All About Me
I grew up in Troup and moved back in 2005. I have two wonderful children who are the loves of my life. I have been a teacher since 1985 after graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University. I started teaching in the Houston area and stayed there for 7 years before staring out on a wonderful adventure that lasted 13 years.
I left Houston for the country of Iceland to teach on the NATO base teaching the children of American Military personal working there. I LOVED the job but the location lacked a lot! The first year I was there was the worst winter they had in 50 years. The snow was actually above the first floor windows! What a change from Texas weather. On the other hand I was able to easily travel to Europe to go to school workshops and for fun. We had really cool field trips to check out all the military aircraft that were on the base.
In 1999 I was given the opportunity to move to Sembach Air Base which is near Ramstein, Germany. What a change! I was able to start a new Pre-K program at that school. I lived there for 6 years changing jobs after 4 years to teach Kindergarten. While in Germany I was able to travel around Europe very easily. I was a 4 hour train ride to Paris, France and an hour from the French boarder. There were lots of festivals and markets to explore. I also enjoyed driving on the autobahn and all through the little villages in Germany.
In 2005 I was given the opportunity to teach Pre-K in Troup and took it. I was in the early process of adopting a child and thought it would be easier to have family close. I moved into the house I bought many years ago here.
Now I don't travel as far but the girls and I love to take road trips. We have fun almost anywhere we go. I have enjoyed being close to old friends and family again.
